| The Texas Mountain Laurel is a species of flowering small tree or shrub which is native to the western and central areas of Texas, and also is widespread throughout Mexico. It is widely used in commercial settings in shopping centers and along landscaped roadsides, and is perhaps best known for its fragrant grape Kool-Aid scent which appears for a short time in February and/or March when the plant sometimes burst into a beautiful show of deep purple flowers.
